I’m not writing this because I hate anyone. I’m writing this because I’m scared — and angry.
There’s this guy, Francisco. I’ve known about him for years. Multiple DUIs, different states — New York, Florida, Utah, maybe even Jersey. Every time he gets arrested, everyone says, “This time he’ll learn.” But he doesn’t. He gets probation, a few months here and there, and then he’s back behind the wheel.
Last year, he almost crashed with his kid in the car. Can you imagine that? A child. And still, he’s walking free. The rest of us pay taxes, follow the law, and people like him just… keep getting chances.
The system’s broken. It’s not about punishment — it’s about prevention. Why do we wait for someone to die before taking it seriously? How many lives does it take before a judge finally says “enough”?
I’m tired of reading about drunk drivers like they’re victims of circumstance. They’re not. The real victims are the people they hit — and the ones still waiting for justice.
